Careers in Hire NZ videos and website launch
The Hire and Rental Industry Association of New Zealand has been working with us since 2016 and one of its biggest issues is getting new people to look at coming into their sector. Often seen as a temporary or transitional career, the industry has struggled to attract talented people. However, that is now changing and many people are turning to the rapid advancement opportunities and helping shape the future of this amazing industry sector. Covering traditional hire and also including major events, this industry is now being seen in a new light.
In early 2017, we created a series of 5 careers videos with the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand to promote the diverse industry to new people looking at career options. The project included a 12 day filming trip across both islands and covers people in a wide range of roles, from apprentices to senior management of hire companies.
We were lucky to meet a great bunch of people and we had a great time working together to build their stories through the edit process. The project is critical to the long term survival of the industry as it looks to create leaders of the future. The result of the project was 5 short careers videos following the journeys of the participants.
The videos were then assembled and placed into the new careersinhire.nz website which we built as part of the project. The website and videos were launched at the 2017 HIANZ Conference at Blenheim NZ in July this year, which I filmed and supported as the AV and presentation consultant for HIANZ. We had a panel discussion with all the participants and a good audience of industry people including senior members of Kennards, Hirepool and many other small business members.
We will continue to develop the website and serve into the future and I would like to thank Phil Tindle from HIANZ and all the participants for giving so freely of their time over the project and during the conference.
Below is a sample of one of the videos featuring Nuray Toy, an apprentice and service person. A truly inspiring person!
